Today I am an Actor
The stage is set for me
I practice all my funny lines
For everyone to see!
Today I am an architect,
I’m going on a plan.
My office is where I design —
that’s where my dreams began.
Today I am an astronaut
I’m going on a trip.
The elevator lifts me up
Into my rocket ship.
Today I am a baker,
I’m going to make a pie.
The butter melts, the flour flies,
and laughter fills the sky.
Today I am a doctor,
my bag is full of care.
I wear my clean white coat today,
for patients everywhere.
Today I am a firefighter,
With courage, heart, and luck.
I slide down from the fire pole
Into my shiny truck.
Today I am a journalist,
I’m going on a scoop.
The taxi takes me through the town,
to chase the latest loop.
Today I am a painter,
I’m going on a spree.
My studio’s my magic world
where colors dance with me.
Today I am a pianist,
I’m playing through the day.
The keys sing beneath my hands
they show me where to play.
Today I am a scientist,
I’m going on a quest.
My lab is where I do my work,
where ideas get their test.
Today I am a teacher,
I’m going to teach today.
The yellow bus comes honking loud
I wave and shout, “Hooray!”
Today I am a zookeeper,
My day begins at dawn.
I feed the sleepy animals
Across the waking lawn.
